Finally, the time has come for the real work to start. We got loads done today, and spent a fortune on paint.

What would Alan do?

Alan we miss you.

Quite often while we're working on the boat I think about our lovely friend and neighbour Alan who died suddenly in July. He would have been working on the boat with us now, sticking an oar in here and there. He was a total marvel a grafter with terrible balance who couldn't swim.

The work

There are five elements to the re-skinning of the boat:

1. Removing old tiles and windows

2. Making a new fibre glass 'apron' around the bottom of the boat.

3. Adding maximum insulation (looking forward to those cooold winter days!)

4. Installing new windows

5. Putting up tongue and groove panels.

Because of the diifculties in working on a floating structure that can't be turned around, we are hoping to pre-size everything to make it as easy as possible to fit.
